creating a data link for planes, AWACS, Swedish air force, EF2000

Mission note: if you use both AWACS and JSTARS, only AWACS is available!

dword $2005 ; this is the line you are looking for
      ptr env
      word -2
      word 3

The line "dword $2005" is the one that determines what kind of data-link
the plane can provide. As you might guess, $2005 provides AWACS air-radar
data only. Here's the settings you can try:

      $2005 - AWACS (like the E-2 or E-3)
      $4004 - JSTARS (like the E-6/8)
$6005 - JTIDS (both AWACS & JSTARS from one plane!)
$6096 - JTIDS / Vertical Thrust Vectoring (for the F-22)

Fighting Qualities

Good Points;
High top speed and excellent rate of climb
Engine does not cut immediately under negative 'g'
Good control at low speeds
Gentle stall, even under 'g'

Bad Points;
Ailerons and elevator far too heavy at high speeds
Owing to high wing loading the airplane stalls readily under 'g' and has a relatively poor turning circle
Absence of a rudder trimmer, curtailing ability to bank left in the dive

Yak-1, Yakovlev The Yak-1 was the first of a line of small, nimble fighters, relatively
primitive in many respects, but easy to build and maintain, and with fine performance and
handling at low altitude. They were lightly armed and had low performance at higher altitude.
The Yak-series was the most important Soviet fighter of WWII. 8721 built. Type: Yak-1 Function:
fighter Year: 1940 Crew: 1 Engines: 1 * 1100hp Klimov M-105PA Wing Span: 10.00m Length: 8.47m

of the Yak-4 light bomber, 1940.

Yak-3, Yakovlev See I-30. Yak-3, Yakovlev The Yak-3 was a lightweight interceptor development of the Yak-1.
It was one of the lightest and nimblest fighters of WWII, with a max weight of only 2660kg.
This resulted in a fighter that had some limitations, but excelled in
fighter vs. fighter combat at low altitudes. The M-107 engine originally planned was installed in the Yak-3U,
but that was too late for combat in WWII. 4848 built. Type: Yak-3 Function: fighter Year: 1943 Crew: 1

A-10 Hog Up
Even new engines are in the works that would provide a dramatic performance
and maintenance improvement. General Electric is marketing the 4,400kg thrust
GE TF34-101 turbofan as a replacement engine for the existing 4,218kg thrust
GE TF34-100 turbofans. The engines, for example, will be an engineering challenge.
Any difference in weight between a new engine and the current engine will mean a
change in the center of gravity and require a shift and/or addition of ballast.
Likewise, because of the location of the engines, any additional thrust will add
to the already significant nose-down moment. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise
to the operators to find that the new engines will likely be detuned to approximate
the current thrust, but will last almost forever because they will never be operated
at the high end of the operating temperature range.

-- ADDED FOR GT 54
SA18 REPLACES SIM'S SA16

SA-18 has a maximum range of 5200 meters and a maximum altitude of 3500 meters.
The 9M39 missile SA-18 employs an IR guidance system using proportional convergence logic.
The new seeker offers better protection against electro-optical jammers; the probability
of kill against an unprotected fighter is estimated at 30-48%, and the use of IRCM jammers
only degrades this to 24-30%.

Feb 01, 2003 GT 54 renamed to Columbia in memory of STS107
